Type-Specific Incidence and Persistence of HPV Infection among Young Women in North India

چکیده
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted viruses (Walboomers et al., 1999; Bosch et al., 2002; Zur Hausen 2002). Although there is conclusive evidence that HPV infection is a necessary cause of cervical cancer, the discrepancy between the high frequency of HPV infections in young sexually active women and the relatively low occurrence of cervical lesions in the same population suggests that HPV is not a sufficient cause for cervical neoplasia (Moscicki et al., 2001). Most of these HPV infections are found to be transient and only women who harbor persistent high risk HPV infection are at risk of developing cervical lesions. High risk HPV infections (hrHPV) seem to persist longer than infections with low risk HPVs (Franco et al., 1999; Woodman et al., 2001; Guiliano et al., 2002; Richardson et al., 2003; Munoz et al., 2004; Brown et al., 2005). To effectively design cervical cancer prevention strategies, information regarding the incidence, prevalence and clearance of HPV infections in a variety of populations is needed. However, little is known about the type-specific

Incidence and persistence of carcinogenic genital human papillomavirus infections in young women with or without Chlamydia trachomatis co-infection
We assessed whether infection with chlamydia increases the incidence of carcinogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) infections and if HPV persistence is affected by chlamydia co-infection. For 1982 women (16-29 years-old) participating in two consecutive rounds of a chlamydia screening implementation trial, swabs were polymerase chain reaction tested to detect chlamydia and 14 carcinogenic HPV geno...

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is considered as the main sexually transmitted etiological agent for the cause and progression of preneoplastic cervical lesions to cervical cancer. This study is discussing the prevalence of HPV and its genotypes in cervical lesions and invasive cervical cancer tissues and their association with various risk factors in women from Varanasi and its adjoining areas in ...

The rate of cervical cancer in Asians is deferent, based on the risk factors affecting and the rate of papiloma virus infection among females. Cervical cancer is one of the important cancers between Iranian women. In the present study the rate of cervical neoplasia was detected in Isfahan and some risk factors affecting the incidence of cervical cancer was analyzed. The human papiloma virus inf...
متن کاملSix-month incidence, persistence, and factors associated with persistence of anal human papillomavirus in men: the HPV in men study.
BACKGROUND Although there are limited numbers of incidence and persistence estimates for anal human papillomavirus (HPV) in women and in men who have sex with men (MSM), there are no such reports for men who have sex with women (MSW). METHODS Genotyping was performed on anal samples from men, aged 18-70, from São Paulo, Brazil; Cuernavaca, Mexico; and Tampa, Florida, who provided specimens at...
متن کاملPersistence of type-specific human papillomavirus infection among Daqing City women in China with normal cytology: a pilot prospective study
Persistence of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) represents the necessary cause of cervical cancer. Researching natural history of HPV infection is important to identify high-risk population of cervical cancer. Since HPV infection is population-specific, the findings in western populations could not be simply extended to Chinese and Asian females. This study investigated the type-specific pe...
